Rees Howells' example is not the best antidote!

One strange dude! I give it three stars because the text is well-written and it is an energetic account of the life of a man who has influenced many Christians, particularly those of a more charismatic bent. I agree, however, with earlier reviewers that Rees Howells departed from sound biblical doctrine in a number of ways. He often took verses out of context and showed no understanding of progressive revelation. He was, as another viewer pointed out, an extreme example of the Keswick movement, the noble aim of which was victory over sin and spiritual power in one's life. The disappointments in the lives of those who sincerely sought to apply the Keswick principles are myriad. Sadly, there is today almost a total lack of concern among professing Christians for holy living. Still, Rees Howells' example is not the best antidote!

This still won't make it seem easy!
But, you will see (anyone) can do it ...
But the cost ???

One of the best testimonies I've ever read.

Reading the way Rees Howells gave all he had to God, out of love for Him, changed my heart forever. I learned so much about what true intercession is, and how important it is to pray with love for the lost. I highly recommend this book to every committed Christian that truly seeks to walk in a higher knowledge of the one true God.

About the Author

William Briggs has been on the mathematics faculty at the University of Colorado at Denver for twenty-three years. He received his BA in mathematics from the University of Colorado and his MS and PhD in applied mathematics from Harvard University. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses throughout the mathematics curriculum with a special interest in mathematical modeling and differential equations as it applies to problems in the biosciences. He has written a quantitative reasoning textbook, Using and Understanding Mathematics; an undergraduate problem solving book, Ants, Bikes, and Clocks; and two tutorial monographs, The Multigrid Tutorial and The DFT: An Owner’s Manual for the Discrete Fourier Transform. He is the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) Vice President for Education, a University of Colorado President’s Teaching Scholar, a recipient of the Outstanding Teacher Award of the Rocky Mountain Section of the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), and the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship to Ireland.

Lyle Cochran is a professor of mathematics at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. He holds BS degrees in mathematics and mathematics education from Oregon State University and a MS and PhD in mathematics from Washington State University. He has taught a wide variety of undergraduate mathematics courses at Washington State University, Fresno Pacific University, and, since 1995, at Whitworth University. His expertise is in mathematical analysis, and he has a special interest in the integration of technology and mathematics education. He has written technology materials for leading calculus and linear algebra textbooks including the Instructor’s Mathematica Manual for Linear Algebra and Its Applications by David C. Lay and the Mathematica Technology Resource Manual for Thomas’ Calculus. He is a member of the MAA and a former chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Whitworth University.

Bernard Gillett is a Senior Instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder; his primary focus is undergraduate education. He has taught a wide variety of mathematics courses over a twenty-year career, receiving five teaching awards in that time. Bernard authored a software package for algebra, trigonometry, and precalculus; the Student’s Guide and Solutions Manual and the Instructor’s Guide and Solutions Manual for Using and Understanding Mathematics by Briggs and Bennett; and the Instructor’s Resource Guide and Test Bank for Calculus and Calculus: Early Transcendentals by Briggs, Cochran, and Gillett. Bernard is also an avid rock climber and has published four climbing guides for the mountains in and surrounding Rocky Mountain National Park.

Very good textbook

Content-wise, they explain everything very clearly and the examples prepare you pretty well for the variety of problems that they have. The inside is very nice and uses colors and pictures effectively, which is greatly appreciated since it can be hard to picture many of the situations in 3D space. As a student I'm pretty happy with it, or as happy as someone taking a multivariable calculus course can be.

Great for any Cardiologist

Whether you're a fellow or board certified cardiologist, this book is great. I'd even go as far to say it's a must have for fellows. It puts every topic in a concise, evidenced based approach along with summaries of every study it refers to in the appendix of each chapter. Those summaries really put this book one notch ahead of every other cardiology book I've read. I read the second edition several years back, and have been anxiously awaiting this edition for years. I hope they come out with new editions every 2-3 years. I'd buy every one!

This is a great book in Cardiology & well written & easily inderstool.
It is very useful in clinical preactis.
However, I cannot make a storage of somthing if I read it on Kindle Fire.

Another suggestion beyond this book:
There is some excellent X-ray textbook 20 or 30 years & not availble now. Amazone should persuade these publishers to tranform them into e-books. The X-ray films in them are valuable, believe me.

Not what I expected

I found this book to be too narrow in focus in the sense that it is only useful for someone starting a company with a focus normally associated with non-for-profits (thinking building a school in Africa type thing). I was looking for something that would also offer advice for modern commercial ventures with a strong ethical value base. I'm sure it would be useful for some, but not for me.
