You will find anythin' in here but limited to Europe... : waves theory, advices, spots with maps and directions, meteo. Most of spots can be visited and the surfing possibilities that are described in here will be enough to fill anyone's surfing life!

A Treasure Chest for the Travelling Surfer

This book proved to be a very valuable resource of valid and accurate information pertaining to surf spots I have visited last summer in Europe. I surfed northern denmark and germany, and even though these are not very common surf spots, the book had information about spots, and it was a great help. This book not only attempts to provide information on the surf-quality of the particular spot, it also gives a little bit of insight in the surf culture of the area and other information and tips that might not seen obvious at first glance but does prove to be very interesting and worth reading. Unlike atravel agent's brochure it is very unbiased and allows surfers to travel "their way". In Planning my surf trip to France nex summer, this book gave me a place for reference and also allowed me to "float" around in it, checking out this spot or another. The thousands of photographs give the spots a face, making the book not only informational but also very entertaining to read. It lets the reader dream of a perfect vacation and then proves a very valuable tool to realize that dream and turn it into a reality.

This is the most awesome book on surfing Europe imaginable, covering all the best spots (and then some) from Scotland to Italy, from the Azores to Germany, and everywhere inbetween! Surf in Amsterdam? You betcha! It also includes Morocco. It is full of incredibly professional high-tech, accurate maps, pictures, write-ups, and gauges a variety of conditions for each spot- such as water temp, crowd factor, quality of wave, direction wave breaks, power of wave, ocean (break) bottom, what sort of rubber you'll need, etc. Since you'll notice that Amazon is often out of stock on this, or that it takes '3-5- weeks for delivery', I recommend surfing to Amazon.com's UK site (amazon.com.uk) and ordering directly from them in England- you'll pay a little more for shipping, but they usually have it in stock and you'll be sure to get your copy sooner. The sixth chapter provides an opportunity to apply the inquiry and persuasion techniques developed in previous chapters to the transcript of an actual interview. The new edition will place added emphasis on the interview process and the requisite skills of the interviewer. The questioning portion will be expanded as well as the detecting deception portion. In the end it will be a text that places more emphasis on the how to.

Addiction as gift

I love this book.
John Z understands addiction and the "bound will" and the human desperation for God.
He explains, from a Christian perspective, why AA is often more effective than the Church in helping others come to grips with their own impotence and paralysis, enabling them, through the 12 Steps, to trust ever more deeply in God.
Beautifully written----easy to read-----personally helpful.

EXCELLENT BOOK! If I could I would put it in the hands of everyone I know, addict or not. This book speaks to the human condition and the need for intervention from a "Higher Power" (to use AA lingo). It's applicable to addicts of any shape and size or anyone who recognizes somethign is wrong with their fallen self and is looking for answers. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. It will change you.

GIA is a fantastic bridge-building study!

I recently led two book discussion gatherings through Grace in Addiction and was astounded by the practically applicable teaching of John Z.. I have long admired the success of AA but as only as an outsider. Leaning on the rich truths of reformed theology and his own personal history with and powerful understanding of Alcoholics Anonymous John Z. challenges readers' presuppositions and at the same time draws readers both "churched" and "unchurched" into the restorative/redemptive power of the 12 steps and The Grace of The Gospel within the steps.

I am an addict, first and foremost to myself (all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God). GIA helped us all to once again behold God as principally a savior in our time of need, only then can we presently re-encounter the grace of God NOW! Chapter after chapter the men in the groups found themselves saying "that's me and thank God for His Amazing Grace!".

Having lived 35 years of sobriety thanks to God and AA, one "old-timer" in the group found Grace in Addiction to be a supreme act of grace. For many years he had hidden talk of his association with AA from his church friends but having been wowed by the John Z.'s concise and joyfully descriptive similarities between reformed theology and AA he at last arrived at a bridge of unity between what he once believed to be two incongruous methods of deliverance.

Thanks to Grace in Addiction, I recently purchased The Big Book and continue to learn of both my depravity and God's power to deliver.

First time I read the Ramayana was about 35 years ago - small paperback, very endearing story. About 12 yrs ago I read the complete edition 3 volumes long - enjoyed it. This edition by Egenes and Reddy is the best yet. High praise to the authors for what they selected to highlight, endless rewrites and their collaboration. Noticed in the acknowledgements they sought the input of many others to make sure they were getting it right - good move. Books of high spiritual content have a distinct quality of consciousness to them that extends beyond the written words. This particular book has touched me deeper than the previous depictions of this high epic. I've felt an emotional charge that has moved my soul, brought me to tears on some occasions. I've already bought more copies for others to share this experience.

This is not just "another version" of the Ramayana; it is special!

Linda Egenes' version of The Ramayana completely altered my experience of this classic work. It is simple and direct, yet very visceral in its expression. Each utterance or gesture of Rama and the other enlightened characters registered as a thrill in my physiology. I felt their presence almost as palpably as if I had been there with them. Her "voice" has a soft touch, spiritual in its essence, as she guides us through the daily struggles and triumphs of these very human, yet divine beings. Reading this book is something I will do again and again, if for no other reason than to experience the bliss it creates. Thank you and congratulations, Linda!

Couldn’t put it down!

It had been almost 20 years since I last read this story, that was another time and another place. I could not recall what version that was at the moment as it leaves only a glimpse of an impression in my mind now. So to pick up this new re-telling and rediscover this treasure of a beautiful, timeless story and have it come absolutely alive as I read… to have the pages fall away as the characters come to life, and to allow the story to weave itself into the fabric of my very own consciousness, as if I were there inside the story itself… these are the greatest gifts a book can offer, and this version of the Ramayana delivers these gifts effortlessly. It is beautifully written, easy to read, and tells a story expertly brought to life for those of us in the modern era who may not be born into the culture from where this story comes... Get this book you will not be disappointed!
