SPOILER ALERT ! ! ! There's one useful concept here and that is the practice of setting yourself a fixed number of minutes to work and then a fixed number of minutes to rest. This way there's always light at the end of the tunnel; you don't feel daunted by an insurmountable task. In fact there is no tunnel; it's more like being on a bridge or a trestle: you can see light all around. I find that very simple suggestion very helpful, but then the author goes of on this obsessive/compulsive anal retentive jag of keeping track of exactly how many work intervals it takes you accomplish each task and assumes it will take precisely that many every time you perform that task, which, after 45 yrs. in the aerospace biz, I know is a load of dingo's kidneys. Every manager since Pharaoh has wanted people to tell him precisely what would happen precisely when---and be fully committed to that commitment (pssst! Tony Robins called and he wants his fantasy back).

Like I said, one good idea and you don't need to buy the book for it. You can get eminently serviceable little plastic tomato timers from Amazon for half a pittance each. I got about four for work and home.

(P.S. Getting up and moving for a couple of minutes every half hour is also really good for you. Ask your doctor.)

No more multi-tasking

Even though folks think I am a time management guru this book put me to shame! It worked so well I was able to do three times as much. It does put to the death the multi-tasking principle and makes us all FOCUS. Wish that the worksheets were larger and more easily reproduced on a computer download. That would save me more time!

Excellent book of riddles

For filipinos, this is a must read. The "bugtong" or riddle is now lost art amongst the younger generation among the plethora of gadgets and games that they play. It's actually fun to play and see how good you are at finding the answers to the riddle. And consider this was written in the early 20th Century.

I'm not sure that I've ever read anything that has so delicately cradled AND at the same time intricately exposed the raw feelings that come from heartache and longing, self-doubt and self-discovery, and the rebuilding of oneself from near destruction after suffering love just out-of-reach, both externally and self-imposed. The true human experience of the heart is all inside these pages; sides both dark and golden. Breaking and rebuilding. Being torn apart and sewn back together, into something much stronger, much more durable and yet now even more tender, with the brazen sheen of vulnerability that only heartache can polish onto a soul. Morgan exquisitely pulls the reader through what finding and claiming the true self after devastation is, as only her words can:

If this book doesn't inspire you to drop everything and gather up the ingredients to make your own home-baked pizza pie, nothing will! This is a beautiful tribute to one of the most popular dishes born in the late 19th century in Manhattan's Little Italy District. Best Pizza Cookbook of the Year!

As a professional pizzeria owner, this book is my favorite of the year! I've made at least five of these pies for my customers and they loved them. This book is easy to use, innovative, pizza-specific and upbeat without the pomposity of cookbooks from "know-it-all" chefs. I especially like the way that other small pizzerias across the country are represented here. The corn crust is now my go-to vehicle for all my southwest style pies and I am definitely stealing the Finocchio pizza with this delicious fennel jam as mine! Here's my version of Craig's fabulous Grilled Pear and Bacon Pizza, (I added some Stilton)

Home cooks, pull out your pizza stones! This is a terrific book. I would say that the Deep Dish Reuben Pizza is one of the most delicious things I've ever eaten (not only in the pizza category!) The Chunky Tomato Sauce recipe is magical. There is a pizza for everyone here--classic, innovative, deep, thin, gluten-full and gluten-free. I am happy to have it on my shelf and need no other pizza book.

R. David Gustafson is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Rock Valley College in Illinois and has also taught extensively at Rockford College and Beloit College. He is coauthor of several best-selling mathematics textbooks, including Gustafson/Frisk/Hughes' COLLEGE ALGEBRA, Gustafson/Karr/Massey's BEGINNING ALGEBRA, INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA, BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA, BEGINNING AND INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA: A COMBINED APPROACH, and the Tussy/Gustafson and Tussy/Gustafson/Koenig developmental mathematics series. His numerous professional honors include Rock Valley Teacher of the Year and Rockford's Outstanding Educator of the Year. He has been very active in AMATYC as a Midwest Vice-president and has been President of IMACC, AMATYC's Illinois affiliate. Don't Even Bother

This book was absolutely terrible. I gave it one star because I couldn't go any lower and because the heroine was o.k. It is a rich man-poor girl Cinderelly kind of story. But it was awful. Blaze was the BIGGEST jerk throughout the whole book and even in the end he didn't show the slighest indication that he had changed. Chrissy was too stupid! The Big Misunderstanding was completely her fault because she was trying to spare the feelings of too many people instead of thinking about the consequences of her actions. Blaze had no good qualities at all. He treated the heroine like a servant, even after he married her. And Chrissy never found her back bone.
The book could have been good because it had a good premise. Instead it felt like we jumped into the middle of the story; it felt like there were pages of dialogue missing; and you NEVER, NOT ONCE found out what Blaze was thinking. It was all totally Chrissy's point of view. And the ending was totally rushed. Everything was wrapped up in about 5 paragraphs. This book was a big disappointment.

If you like Cinderella stories in which fate throws together a hand some, rich , successful and famous man with a plain, struggling working girl and makes him fall for her, this is the book which satisfies you. It is good escapism for women who have not married Prince Charming.

I had some how missed Lynne Graham's books. Until I read this one. I love this book. I went out and read everything else she has ever written. It is so funny an sad. The heros Blaze & Cristy are so wonderful. He thinks he is a rock but he just melts for Cristy.

A Remarkable Accomplishment

Due Diligence for Global Deal Making is one of the most enlightening and comprehensive books of its kind. Editor and contributor Arthur Rosenbloom has identified a group of thoughtful, experienced due diligence practitioners who describe the process from seven different points of view. The process is covered both from an in-bound and an out-bound standpoint. Despite the diversity of perspectives, the book maintains a consistent style and voice and refrains from undue repetition.
Each of the seven substantive chapters looks at a business using a slightly different lens: strategic, operational, financial and accounting, legal, tax, organizational and, oddly but perhaps most interestingly, the Internet. Scattered through the chapter are cautionary tales of what can go wrong in the real world if the practitioner or the client cuts corners. At the end of each chapter is a series of charts and lists which sets forth the subjects of investigation, often with indications of where to find the information or how it is important to the evaluation of the target.
For anyone who has to conduct, supervise or coordinate due diligence, this overview is remarkably helpful. For the young attorney, accountant or business strategist, Due Diligence provides a veritable Bible for his or her own due diligence. But more importantly, the book informs the reader how the information gleaned fits into the overall process.
Rosenbloom's brief but enlightening look at the due diligence world post 9/11 is among the most compelling parts of the book. This section alone can be worth the price of the book. The possible effects of terrorism or war on a business, in concrete terms, or on the material adverse change or force majeure clauses of a contract are sobering and helpful.
Describing due diligence from seven points of view and then domestic and foreign aspects on top of that is a tall order. This informative book is a remarkable, and even entertaining accomplishment...

Doing mergers and acquisitons that create value for shareholders is harder than ever. It is even more difficult to do this in a multi-national environment. The compelxities of tax, accounting, securities laws and the regulatory differences add enormous complexities to the already huge challenges of just getting the stragegy right and executing it!!
This handbook, Due Dilignece for Global Deal Making, dramatically increases the odds of doing a deal better. Many experts believe that deals are made or broken in the due diligence phase. That is is where you figure out how much to pay, and the valuation is totally dependent on what you find out and what questions you ask.
This book covers it all from strategic imperative to tax rules. It also has an excellent chapter on my own area of expertise, people and organizational fit. I found the section on beginning to evaluate the fit of the corporate cultures particularly helpful. We think the success of true mergers are highly influenced by the cultural fit.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone practicing in this area, regardless of their area of expertise, as it gives them context for all of the other important, areas.
