OMG! Because He Takes Me is the second book in the seductive new series, Because He Owns Me, by Hannah Ford and may I just say - WOW! Like really, really WOW! I began reading Ford's work a few months ago when I discovered her What He Wants Series. She seems to specialize in serialized multi-installment novels with each release being the equivalent of one or two chapters totaling 35 to 50 pages each. I find that I actually enjoy this concept very much as long as the books are released weekly or bi-monthly and hers generally are. Each book is a short quick read and perfect for what I like to call a palette cleanser - something to stop sensory overload, relax my mind and enjoy in between heavy, full-length novels. Ms Ford is exceptionally talented in crafting realistic stories with complex characters and suspenseful plot twists. She also excels at maintaining the momentum of the story throughout the entire book without having to use empty filler dialogue to pace the continuation of the plot. If it's there, you better believe it means something and will be important to the story at some point. She has quickly become one of my favorite authors. The story is exciting, enchanting, romantic, seductive and arousing. The dialogue is exceptionally well written in the first person with alternating his and her points of view although the main pov seems to come from the female lead of the story. The characters are captivating, engaging, intriguing and sexy as sin. Ford skillfully combines these elements into a delightfully entertaining cocktail of adult romance with a sensual twist of BDSM. Hubba! Hubba!

Book One: This story features recent college graduate Adriana O'Connor who has recently moved from Michigan to New York City to find a job, hopefully in a publishing house and start her new life. Although not unfamiliar with the ways of the world, she is quite naive. And apparently, she is also quite submissive as is quickly discovered by handsome, charismatic billionaire Callum Wilder, CEO and Founder of Wilder Holdings, LLC. Adriana has agreed to meet Nathan, whom she met on a dating app, for a blind date at Whipped, a club located in Midtown Manhattan. Nathan is a no-show and leaves the lovely Adriana waiting alone. Adriana is totally unaware that whipped is a BDSM Light Club and is caught totally off guard when she catches the eye of someone else... someone dark, handsome and much more experienced...someone who wants to dominate and own her...for only one night. What? One night??? Handsome billionaire Callum Wilder is immediately taken with the innocent young beauty sitting alone in the bar but Callum does not date nor does he do relationships. So what does he want with the lovely, innocent Adriana??? Well. he wants one night only of complete possession and mind-blowing sex! What??? Yep, one night and what arrogant and self assured Callum Wilder wants, he pursues and conquers - for one night only, of course! Oh my! Book Two: Callum Wilder is a man on a mission and that mission is to possess the fair skin beauty Adriana, "Lemon" as he likes to call her, for one night. She ran away from him at the club and tried to put the entire incident out of her mind. But apparently it was never out of Callum's mind because somehow he finds her the very next day and all but demands that she join him for lunch. Of course it's not a lunch date because the arrogant Callum Wilder doesn't do dates. Riigghhtt.......not a date then!!! He's determined to have her and still wants her to submit to him for one night. Can he convince her to reconsider and accompany him on a business trip to Florida where he intends to have his wicked way with her - for only one night, of course! Nope, she refuses his offer until........Well, I'll never tell! Yep, the unworldly Adriana is definitely in way over her head with the sophisticated, charming and very dominant Callum Wilder and if she isn't careful, she may just find herself swimming with a shark! Oh my gracious! Buckle up my lovelies! Here we go again! This is the one we've been waiting for.....Does she or doesn't she??? And who is Rose??? I'm dying to know! I can hardly wait for the next installment! Deliciously seductive, seriously sexy, completely captivating and wonderfully entertaining! What more could you ask of a great read? Not a darn thing!!!

Too good and too short

This story just gets better with every page. Cullum invited Adriana for a weekend in Florida with a contract for one night of sex. She's not supposed to ask him any questions but amazingly he spent hours asking her about her life and why she wants to work in publishing. It's not surprising that when they get back home he sends her off with a " nice to have met you". While she knew this was his way, she's still hurt and angry. It's evident that she's young and inexperienced while he's been picking up women and walking away for a long time.
I am interested in seeing what her job interview brings about and why Cullum arranged it.....because you know that he did. No one gets a job interview at a company they never applied to.

They also haunted the bazaars, the oases, the hills and valleys of northern Afghanistan, searching for the picturesque, the exotic, and the soul of peoples whose lives would soon be transformed. They took excellent pictures of everything. For photography, who could give them less than five stars ? As for the text, it's minimal, not overly informative, and maybe notable as much for what isn't said as for what is. I would have to say that the text is too romantic and does not extend to any politics whatsoever. It has been politics, however, that did this "exotic" world in. You wouldn't pick this book for the text, OK, but with the photos, you can't go wrong. Take a look.

It was indeed once upon a time when two French youth must have looked at a map, searching for the ultimate in remoteness, and settled for the Wakhan salient, that geopolitical accident of the "Great Game" in Asia, the rivalry between Britain and Russia for dominance in Central Asia. The salient was a small bit of land, around 200 miles long, that was drawn on the maps to separate Czarist Russia from British India, connecting Afghanistan to China. And of all the dreamers who have looked at this map, Roland and Sabrina Michaud actually DID it - they went there, and with their youth and determination talked their way into one of the very last Bactrian camel winter caravan re-supply trips that ever occurred. Their pictures of a way of life that has now disappeared are haunting - a unique and most valuable documentary effort. At a time when so much of the world's attention was focused on a conflict in South East Asia, who could have known that this region would soon be engulfed in endless war, a tragedy occurring today.

In addition to the Wakhan trip, they explored at leisure many of the villages just south of the Oxus (Amu Darya) river, the border between the then USSR and Afghanistan. It is here where their best portraits of the Afghans were done, and although not explicitly confirmed, no doubt Sabrina was instrumental in composing and taking the pictures of the women. They also managed to photograph a "bozkashi," a national sport of sorts, whereby horsemen struggle for control of a goat. Of the landscapes, my favorite is on page 36, a village with mulberry and poplars in early autumn.

I agree with another reviewer that the text is somewhat overly romantic, and ignores the harsh realities of the existence so beautifully photographed. Furthermore, the text was eerily prophetic for the authors, specifically from the section on the Turkmenian wedding: "I like the peacefulness and serenity of these women. And if the carpets reflect their inner life, then I can even like their submission."

A beautiful book, a valuable historical record of a departed world.

Enlightening, but homophobic

Disney devotees will condemn this book because it attacks the sacred practices of the New Disney under Michael Eisner. I found the book to be well-researched and mostly evenhanded, although shocking in some areas. The authors appear to have a strong bias against homosexuals, inferring that any involvement of homosexuals in Disney operations, is reprehensible. I found that this apparent homophobia detracted from their credibility, and made them appear to have a hidden agenda. As a recent first-time visitor to Disney World, however, I found it consistent with my observations that Disney will do anything to make an extra buck, and that the traditions of the original Disney Corporation have been allowed to decompose at the same pace as Walt's corpse (which is undoubtedly spinning in its grave).

Part of this book is simply the tired mouth-covered-in-horror conservative sermonizing, with more than a dash of homophobia. To imply that Disney is somehow subverting its mission of entertaining children by owning a film distribution company that deals in more adult fare, for example, is muddled thinking. And the authors seem horrified that Disney treats gays like actual people. But the chapters that detail the cover-up of accidents, use of sweatshop labor and plagiarism are important and solid reporting. It's too bad that the book isn't half as long as it is. That much of it is a story that needs to be told. The rest is dismissable.

Tons of "I hate Disney" Opinion

While I would still buy this book again, I would say that you have to prepare yourself for all of the anti-Disney opinion. You should know that some of the stories, as well as the way Disney handles "problems" in the park, are typical. What business wouldn't want to hide away a problem--they're bad for business. In the end, I would recommend you purchase this book if only to laugh at some of the stories.
