A guide for tourists? Useless

As an upcoming visitor I was seeking a book with "things to see and do" and "places to stay", and transportation networks, and such vital things as that.
This book contains none of that. Listings of artists, painters, histories, and such things are cute, but offer zero help in setting up plans for an exciting, adventured filled visit, and a well planned visit at that.
This is simply the wrong book if you are planning a trip to Vancouver Island.

Great little book.

This was a great book to review before our trip to the island and was nice reading while on the island. It is presented in a nice way, you can just flip it open and you are exposed to tips, trivia, local folklore, place names - presented in boxes or not, but done in a way so that it is an appealing, easy read. The presentation of this book makes it an enjoyable book to reach for.
